Readers, when you are asked to write an essay on topic "describe your city in French language" (Décrivez votre ville en français), you always get confused and think what content should be written on this topic. During this state of mind, while describing a city, you start writing sentences randomly and finish essay in 7-8 sentences only. The reason is, you do not think deeply about this topic and do not follow an ideal format.

So, Readers, the purpose of this article is to help you to write an essay on topic “describe your city in French language (Décrivez votre ville en français)”.

Before starting the steps of essay on city, you must understand two questions: What is writing and what is the best process of writing?

In this article, I will tell you how you should prepare an outline of an essay on city and will also elaborate some easy steps to write an essay on topic "describe your city in French language" (Décrivez votre ville en français).

How to prepare an outline of an essay on city (la ville)

While preparing an outline of an essay on city, you should follow 3 easy steps as follows:

· First, make a list of questions such as where is this city situated, what are the famous places in your city? Which different facilities do you find there? What is the speciality in the culture of this city? What are the most interesting things in your city which are admired by the people? etc.

· Second, assemble useful vocabulary related to city like adjective, places, culture (languages, dress-code, religions...), means of transports etc...

· After focusing on different questions and vocabulary related to city, eventually, you finalize an outline of essay on city and in the outline, you can divide the description of city in four steps:

a)  A brief introduction of city,

        b) Describe some famous places in your city

        c) A brief description of culture in your city.

        d) Describe some interesting and attractive aspects of your city

Four easy steps to write an essay on city (la ville)

a) A brief introduction of city

Readers, this step is like foundation of a building. When you start the construction of building, you need to start with a strong foundation so that you can build a strong building. Similarly, when you start writing an essay on city, you are supposed to begin with a brief introduction of city. This introduction is like foundation of an essay. So, it should be in few sentences but with impressive vocabulary.

In this part of essay, you should reply to certain questions such as Where is this city situated, I mean, in which state or country or continent? Whether there is any special name for this city like Jaipur is also called pink city? It's famous for what? etc...For instance,  Delhi, la capitale de l'Inde, est une belle et célèbre ville. C'est l'une des villes métropolitaines en Inde. Elle se divise en deux parties: nouveau Delhi et vieux Delhi. Elle se situe sur la rivière Yamuna....

   b)Describe some famous places in your city

This step is main body part of an essay. In this part, you should present some famous places where everyone prefer to visit and enjoy in your city, such as, monuments, universities, markets, supermarkets, malls, restaurants, hotels, museums etc. When you speak about these places, give examples as well. For example, if you write “there are many famous monuments in Delhi”, this sentence is not enough. Instead, you should write, there are many famous monuments in Delhi such as Qutub Minar, Red fort, India Gate etc.... for instance in French, you can say “Il y a beaucoup de monuments célèbres à Delhi comme le Fort Rouge,  la Porte de l' Inde, le Qutub Minar etc.” 

In this part, as I said above, you should present some famous places with examples but it does not mean that we can start with any place randomly. Instead, while making a list of places, we should note down the places from the most popular places to the least popular places. For example, “Il y a beaucoup de monuments célèbres à Delhi comme le Fort Rouge, la Porte de l' Inde, le Qutub Minar etc. Il existe également de nombreux lieux célèbres à visiter où les habitants locaux et les touristes préfèrent visiter tels que Connaught Place,  Hauz khas, Khan Market. Le système éducatif se développe par quelques célèbres universités (par example: Université de Delhi,  JNU, Jamia Milia etc...) et aussi les écoles publiques et privées ( Modern School, DPS school, Sarvodya Kenya vidhyalya).

Therefore,  instead of repeating same expressions, one can use following expressions: Il y a, On y trouve, C'est, On peut visiter aussi, On se trouve, Il existe...

On the one hand, this outline of describing places in a city can keep continue the interest of the public. On the other hand, if you talk about places randomly then, the readers will lose interest after few lines only.

   c)A brief description of culture in your city.

In this part, you must concentrate only on the culture of your city. You should describe languages, religions, sacred places, dress-code, dance forms, Food and beverages etc.(les langues, les religions,  les lieux sacrés, les vêtements,  les formes de danse, la nourriture etc.)

While presenting the culture of city, you should focus on the fact if this city is multicultural or monoculture (single culture). If it is multicultural society, then which religions are there and what are their customs, traditions, beliefs and their worship places. You should also give examples of their worship places. In different cities, you will find different dress-code, dance forms and food. So, you should mention which type of dresses are worn by the natives, which dances forms and food they prefer in your city. You must take examples of languages, religions,  sacred places, dress-code, dance forms, food and beverages etc.

   d) some interesting and attractive aspects of your city

Every city has always been few points of attraction, some interesting and attractive aspects which are admired by the public and the tourists. In this part, you should evoke these facts of your city which can bring special attention of public towards your essay. For example - Hyderabad est célèbre pour Hyderabadi biryani, Jaipur est célèbre pour les monuments, le Tajmahal est le point d’attraction d’Agra. This is the last part of essay, this must be more interesting. You can end with what you like the most in this city.
